WM Area Intercounties ESK 16/08/26

The Gloucester English Skeet team travelled to Eaton Hall on Sunday, fielding a complete 15-member squad comprising six seniors, three ladies, three juniors, and three veterans. The club extends its sincere appreciation to every shooter who made the journey to support the team.

The tournament yielded exceptional results, highlighted by the ladies' team securing a magnificent gold medal. Lucy Harvey led the category with a fantastic score of 98, while Jo Knapman followed closely with a brilliant 96. Lauren Welch completed the gold-winning trio, delivering an impressive performance to shoot a personal best in her very first major competition.

Drama unfolded in the veteran category as Martin Knapman with a new pb of 97 and overall top veteran, Cliff Gardener and Brian Richings with a good 93 also put on a superb display to tie for first place. This forced a highly tense shoot-off, where the team fought valiantly but were unfortunately narrow runners-up.

Meanwhile, the senior and junior squads put forth a determined effort against tough competition, though their strong performances ultimately fell just short of the medal positions.

Overall, it was a brilliant showcase of effort and exceptional team spirit across all categories.
